Yes Google, Google, Google its all we hear these days. Anyway Google has launchedwhat looks like its version of Flickr, Picasa Web Albums (http://picasaweb.google.com/) and its currently in the TEST (not beta!?!) stage. To use the service you have to apply for an invite like any other trail Google service, however we were given one stright away. Next you need to download the new version of Picasa “with web sharing”. From the program there is then a button to upload your pics onto the net. Using the web-based service you can then manage your photos and put them into albums and pick your favourites. Currently you are given 250MB of space to play with.
Branded as “Picasa’s newest feature”, Google states that Picasa Web Albums is “designed to help users post and share their photos quickly and easily on the web”. But is this the beginning of Google’s march onto Flickr soil?
